I bought the makita fiber cement shears to help a friend install hardie plank siding on his house.He had been using a circular saw with a hardie carbide blade and a jig saw for smaller cuts.The amouint of dust bothered me, so I bought this tool after reading silica dust is very hazardous.The tool works flawlessly and I was amazed how easy it is to use. This tool produces almost no dust at all and can be safely used indoors.As you cut, a curl of fiber cement material comes up between the blades and leaves very little to clean up. The cut made by these shears was every bit as smooth as a saw cut with a hardie carbide blade. I wish I had known about this tool before I started the project!!
